You know you are a Smith sister if:

You know you are a Smith sister if:

…you have the only parents in the world who would paint their house a pastel blue and keep it that way for 33 YEARS!
…you were so happy to be making enough money you know longer needed to do grunt work for Dad.
…you were the only people at a 4am service project (including the 3 teenage boys who lived in the house).
…you received your ‘Motion on the Ocean’ T-shirt.
…you Believe you Believe and you paid $21.50 for it.
…for Christmas your parents received $10,000 in bonds and you got peanuts.
…you inherit NONE of your mother’s jewelry (because Suzette has already claimed it).
…you have counted out 4 squares of toilet paper.
…Footloose was your favorite movie.
…you listened to Neil Diamond’s Forever in Blue Jeans on the record player while sitting on Grandpa’s four poster bed.
…you thought car wrecks at 16 were normal.
…you thought if the front of the car could clear it the back for sure could!
…you can follow 4 conversations at same time and add to each of them.
…you know that hand and foot is a game and not a disease.
…you have to remind Suzette that a Red book of 3s are bad.
…you have life time supply on M’Tish.
…you wear M’Tish only once a year at grandpa's birthday party.

You know you are a friend of Suzette if:
…you know the only task during a painting project to give her is ‘cleaning’ the paint brushes.
…you’ve seen her world end when her electronic planner died.
…it no longer pains you to see her twist and pull her hair.
…while in the middle of a conversation, in your bedroom, she begins color coordinating the shirts in your closet.
…you know her Sunday ‘food prep’ routine.
…you know she can organize her life like nobody you’ve seen, but does not know how to clean a bathroom.
…you know what the SUPER COLON is.

Have you heard of the girl, name of Smith?
She's sent thousands of cards, it's no myth!
She wears lots of glitter,
'Cause she likes to shimmer,
And as help, she'll be there in a jiff!

There once was a girl named Suzette,
Who has yet to drive a corvette,
So until then for fun,
She's been on the run,
Seeking sightings of all Cougarettes!

There once was a girl from Idaho,
Who left for D.C., why? I don't know!
Now for the while,
She just has to smile,
Traveling with the colon in tow!

Have you heard of the woman from Boise?
Who asked all the boys, "won't you court me?"
Now she's playin' the field,
'Til she's ready to yield,
She's all the best things about FORTY!

Happy Birthday, Suzette!

Suzette’s Life Sketch through Music (by Liz Anderson)

Love Story – This is not your typical love story. But it is indeed a love story. We must admit. We love Suzette. We made the cut. Got the invite. We are on her Christmas Card list along with 1000 other peoples.

There so much we love about Suzette. Her strength, her depth, her laughter, her tears. Many of us in this room know her well even if we’ve only known her for a few years. She’s like that. She gathers friends and then pens you in for life. So here’s looking at you Kid. Your life sketch told through the popular music of each year. Friends…when you know the words, sing it loud, sing it strong…

1970 - Close to You – Suzette is born!

The #1 hit for 1970 - Bridge over Troubled Water

The 70’s were filled will a bazillion events. The Concorde makes its first supersonic flight, cigarette television advertisements are banded in the United States, Apollo 13 is launched toward the moon, and the Vietnam War ends while the Cold War is set even more in motion.

The 80’s brought in a torrent of emotions. Good thing we have Ronnie as President.

Les Miserable the musical is written. The 1980 USA Hockey team beats the Soviets at the Olympics.

We lost of the Space Ship Challenger.

E.T., Star Wars V, Indiana Jones, Batman, Rain Man, and Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties, … but who cares about that? Suzette was coming of age!

1980 - Even at an early age, she not loved watching men run on the beach or Tom and Val playing Volleyball in Top Gun.

Chariots of Fire (1981)

1983 – She becomes a Teenager. Good thing all the best songs came out in the 80s like…

Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?

Hold Me Now

Billie Jean

Every Breath You Take

Time after Time

1988 – Graduated High School

With or Without You

Faith

1991 – Mission to Australia

Everything I do, I do for you - Bryan Adams

She came home…went back to BYU…

1992 – Made BYU Ballroom Dance Team (hooray) and felt invincible.

One of the hit songs of period was…

Forever Young - Alphaville

1993 – Broken Engagement (seriously bummer!)

And I Will Always Love You

1994 – Graduated BYU (and move to LA) – She rolled down her window on her way, knew the Lord was with her, and sang…

Can You Feel the Love Again

1997 – Moved to Boston – Fun Year when I dated the leather clad, tattoo bearing, motorcycle riding non-member. Nothing like singing her favorite little Led Zeplin song to memorialize those good ol’ days.

Stairway to Heaven

1998 – Named President of NETRA: New England Therapeutic Recreation Association

2000 – 30th Birthday Party

2002 – Graduated with MBA from Bentley (and moved to SLC)

2004 – Learned to downhill ski

2006 – Promoted to Executive Director of EWI

2007 – Happiness year of

2008 – Moved to Alexandria and me, Liz

2010 – Soon to be BEST YEAR OF HER LIFE!

Suzette’s Song (aka: Annie’s Song)

You fill up my mailbox with note cards and letters -

little thoughts to remind me that I’m a woman and free.

You see the world in full color. You love the birds and the bees.

You find time in your schedule for even people like me!

Come let us love you. Let us give our lives to you. Let us drown in your laughter.

Let us die in your arms. Let us lay down beside you. Let us always be with you. Come let us love you.

‘Cause you know we love you.

"What I Like About You" by the Romantics

What we like about you
You're really organized
And you're really, really good
At scheduling you're time, yeah

Making your lists of where, what and who
Don't know how you do everything that you do, but it's true
That's what we like about you

What we like about you
You always speak your mind
When we talk opinions are
Never, ever hard to find, yeah

Making your lists of where, what and who
Don't know how you do everything that you do, but it's true
That's what we like about you, yeah
That's what we like about you
That's what we like about you

What we like about you
You're a strong woman
And we really like to go
To the seminars you plan, yeah

Making your lists of where, what and who
Don't know how you do everything that you do, but it's true
That's what we like about you
That's what we like about you

You're always writing cards to say thank you
I bet I'll get a card before this song is through, and it's true
That's what we like about you, yeah
That's what we like about you
That's what we like about you
