Suzette’s Life Sketch through Music (by Liz Anderson)

Love Story – This is not your typical love story. But it is indeed a love story. We must admit. We love Suzette. We made the cut. Got the invite. We are on her Christmas Card list along with 1000 other peoples.

There so much we love about Suzette. Her strength, her depth, her laughter, her tears. Many of us in this room know her well even if we’ve only known her for a few years. She’s like that. She gathers friends and then pens you in for life. So here’s looking at you Kid. Your life sketch told through the popular music of each year. Friends…when you know the words, sing it loud, sing it strong…

1970 - Close to You – Suzette is born!

The #1 hit for 1970 - Bridge over Troubled Water

The 70’s were filled will a bazillion events. The Concorde makes its first supersonic flight, cigarette television advertisements are banded in the United States, Apollo 13 is launched toward the moon, and the Vietnam War ends while the Cold War is set even more in motion.

The 80’s brought in a torrent of emotions. Good thing we have Ronnie as President.

Les Miserable the musical is written. The 1980 USA Hockey team beats the Soviets at the Olympics.

We lost of the Space Ship Challenger.

E.T., Star Wars V, Indiana Jones, Batman, Rain Man, and Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties, … but who cares about that? Suzette was coming of age!

1980 - Even at an early age, she not loved watching men run on the beach or Tom and Val playing Volleyball in Top Gun.

Chariots of Fire (1981)

1983 – She becomes a Teenager. Good thing all the best songs came out in the 80s like…

With or Without You

Forever Young - Alphaville

1993 – Broken Engagement (seriously bummer!)

And I Will Always Love You

1994 – Graduated BYU (and move to LA) – She rolled down her window on her way, knew the Lord was with her, and sang…

Can You Feel the Love Again

1997 – Moved to Boston – Fun Year when I dated the leather clad, tattoo bearing, motorcycle riding non-member. Nothing like singing her favorite little Led Zeplin song to memorialize those good ol’ days.

Stairway to Heaven

Suzette’s Song (aka: Annie’s Song)

You fill up my mailbox with note cards and letters -

little thoughts to remind me that I’m a woman and free.

You see the world in full color. You love the birds and the bees.

You find time in your schedule for even people like me!

Come let us love you. Let us give our lives to you. Let us drown in your laughter.

Let us die in your arms. Let us lay down beside you. Let us always be with you. Come let us love you.

‘Cause you know we love you.
