Mom

Happy 40th Birthday !!! What fun I’ve had reminiscing the life of my first born. From the time you were first envisioned, you have been loved. You have brought joy and fulfillment into my life. I remember sitting on the couch in our San Francisco apartment looking at your baby picture. How cute you were and I wondered if I could ever love another child as much as I loved you. I learned the Lord made my heart capable of loving more than I thought possible. A mother’s love keeps growing.

As a baby you were so adorable and such a good baby. Everyone marveled at how you scooted around on your bottom without ever crawling. Later, you were the ‘big sister’ and took wonderful care of your younger sisters.

Your 4 H picture reminds me of the countless hours you spent with me and on your own sewing, cooking, working the Niki, practicing your modeling, and preparing demonstrations. Today you continue that drive to compete and complete all assignments and tasks extremely well.

Dancing, dancing, dancing. You found your niche and the sport you loved. How I’ve enjoyed watching you dance and hear of the enjoyment dancing has given to you. Can you still sit in this dance pose?

You preformed so well in Miss Gem County. It was my honor to see you dressed modestly and playing a lovely piano selection.

Then sadly you were off to college. I remember I didn’t cry when I dropped you off at the dorm (trying to be brave), but I had to stop not far from Deseret Towers to wipe my eyes. My first baby was gone.

This picture of you dressed up, for I assume a Halloween party at one of your centers, reminds me that you enjoy dressing up for all occasions. You and Danae dressed as clowns long ago for a sister’s birthday party. You were a big hit.

The surprise phone call and you asked, “Dad and mom will you support me on a mission?” “Yes”. Australia never knew what was coming. You experienced such challenges and such rewards. Two thoughts I remember from your mission go something like—if I never have to take orders from a 19 year old male again, it will be too soon, and it’s so hard to love the people so deeply and then have them not accept my message.

You were caring to your grandparents. You wanted to share your life with them, and they were thrilled that young girls like you and your sisters would visit them, ask their advice, and want them to be part of their lives. You made them happy.

Nieces and nephews—how you love them and how they love you. If all young people could be loved as you love your nieces and nephews, what a wonderful world we would have. Your sisters are fortunate to have available such a caring sister.

May your day be wonderful and your dreams and wishes come true.
